Lost Horizon VR Festival
All artists’ works were shown on billboards around the virtual stages where real green-screened acts were performing - such as Fat Boy Slim, Noisia, Carl Cox and Peggy Gou. Since it had an element of realism to the stages I didn’t want my poster to be flat and digital, I wanted it to enhance the realism of VR and so added a texture as if it was pasted - although an overdone technique I felt it really worked in this setting.
Lost Horizon was streamed on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th July 2020. The festival could be explored in VR for free via Sansar on PC, VR on mobile or live stream via Beatport and Twitch.
Prints were available to purchase through the festival website, all in aid of Amnesty International and The Big Issue.
The festival was a hit and gained some excellent media coverage, here’s my favourite vid to give you the inside scoop of what users experienced.
Excuse the blurriness, this is a screenshot of the stage in the VR world - but look! There it is! (On the right of the stage.)
This is just one of the stages, exactly like a real life festival there were many, forcing you to choose between which acts you wanted to see.
